Social networks and Albanian media have been "boiling" these days with a news story that has been circulating regarding the health of the mayor of Gjirokastra.

A local activist, now identified as Emin Kokalari, raised suspicions that Mayor Flamur Golemi was infected with HIV/AIDS, and then the news spread.

Other figures began to declare that several other employees had also been infected. Yesterday, the Municipality of Gjirokastra denied it as news and published the mayor's tests showing that he was negative.

Today, the municipality filed a lawsuit against Emin Koklari, accusing him of spreading fake news. The police immediately took action and put the citizen in question under investigation.

" The Crime Investigation Specialists at the Gjirokastra Police Station referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office, where criminal proceedings were initiated against citizen EK, 33 years old, resident of Gjirokastra, for the criminal offense of "Spreading false information that incites panic". The 33-year-old's cell phone was seized as material evidence. The procedural materials were transferred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Gjirokastra, for further action ", the police stated.

The activist himself has denied on social media that he has accused anyone by name. However, his statement proved once again that in Albania, "hair becomes hair".
