The trip by raft to England, 'The Times': Albanian traffickers have

Although the demand for small boat crossings by illegal Albanian immigrants appears to have shrunk, foreign media reports that there is another strategy being used by traffickers to bring them by boat to the UK. In the first seven months of the year, only 429 Albanians passed, compared to more than 2,500 in the same period last year

During the period January-July 2023, according to The Times, 429 people arrived in England by raft, while last year the number was 12,301.

The Times newspaper has written an article where it brought the case of the Albanian Daniel Docaj, who 'lures' Albanians through his social network, Tik Tok, to go illegally to the United Kingdom.

"Come, let God be our priest and our good wife", says one of Docaj's writings.
Immediately after that, Docaj posted a picture where he proudly appears at night in front of the London Eye.

He makes posts on TikTok where he documents his stops around Europe, which in the end have a destination of Great Britain. Pictures he posted along the way also show him with a woman holding a baby outside a train station in Metz, northeastern France, and feeding a pigeon outside a cafe in Budapest.

Excerpt from The Times article on Docaj:

In one video he shows off his tattoos and plays with a kitten. In another, apparently recorded in a migrant camp.

Docaj's TikTok posts are typical of many Albanians who shamelessly post footage of their 21-mile journey across the English Channel. The posts are often shared by organized crime groups that facilitate the crossings to advertise to prospective customers, portraying it as proof of the safety and ease of travel.

Rishi Sunak attributes the decrease in the number of Albanians using small boats to an agreement he signed to speed up and increase deportations to Tirana, Albania's capital, even though the numbers returned are only slightly higher than last year.

Afghans have replaced Albanians as the largest nationality crossing the Channel in small boats. Turks, Iranians, Iraqis, Eritreans, Syrians and Sudanese have also accounted for hundreds of crossings this year.
