We invite you to follow the main developments from the black chronicle up to this hour of the day, where among other things we highlight:
In the "Gërdeci" file, a request has been made for Irena Gjoka, while former minister Mediu continues to face charges of abuse of office. Serious events continue to be recorded in Shkodra, where after a pursuit two people were arrested, including the right wing of the group known as "Licët", who fired a gun at the police; authorities are still searching for a 40-year-old involved in this incident.
In Sauk, a Turkish citizen was injured during a conflict that began in Turkey, but his life is out of danger. Police are investigating the perpetrator and the motive for the incident. Meanwhile, in another important case, Ruben Saraiva appears in court for the murder of Nikulaj and claims innocence, arguing that there was discrimination and lack of evidence; the final hearing focused on his defense.
In Fier, two young men were found guilty and sentenced to 20 years in prison for attempted murder in revenge for an incident that had occurred six years earlier. In Tirana, a TNT explosion was recorded in a vehicle; fortunately, there were no injuries, while police continue to investigate the motive and identity of the perpetrator.
On the other hand, Interpol Tirana and Albanian authorities arrested Bledar Barsa, 32, sentenced in Italy to 8 years and 11 months for wounding, theft and resisting police officers, with the aim of extraditing him to serve his sentence. Also, two young men were arrested for arms trafficking from Montenegro to Tirana, where the police seized 6 pistols that were to be sold in the “Fresku” area.
Another operation took place in Fier, where an apartment had been turned into a prostitution den; two Romanian nationals were arrested and two Albanians were placed under investigation. Authorities seized cash and vehicles, while the scheme uncovered by AFP shows that foreign women, often poor, were deceived with promises of work, only to end up involved in the prostitution ring.
These events highlight the ongoing challenges to security, the fight against organized crime, and international and domestic efforts for successful investigations and arrests in the country.
