Kosovo marked the 18th anniversary of its independence with a parade of the Kosovo Security Force and Police, which was accompanied by official activities near the New Born obelisk. President Vjosa Osmani placed her speech in historical context, highlighting the sacrifice of KLA fighters and victims of violence during the war. At the same time, thousands of citizens marched in the “Justice, Not Politics” rally in defense of former KLA leaders on trial in The Hague, with representatives from Albania and Kosovo also participating.

SPAK and judicial decisions

SPAK has requested a 1-year prison sentence for Mayor Majlinda Bufi for using public office for political activity. The GjKKO sentenced Gazment and Kalosh Pepoš to prison for vote buying during the May 11 elections in Kukës. Meanwhile, in Belgium, Franc Çopja was sentenced to 25 years in prison, while Mikael Qosja and Flobenc Meçja were sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Ardit Spahiu.

International diplomacy

Prime Minister Rama is rushing to get closer to Donald Trump through Albania's membership in the "Peace Board" in Washington, where Turkish President Erdogan is absent. Today, the round of talks between Iran and the US begins in Geneva, where Trump warns Tehran to accept the nuclear deal.
