Albanian Radio Television is awaiting a new director, a position currently held by Aurora Polo, who was appointed after Alfred Peza's departure. While the Board of Directors has set January 20 as the deadline for submitting candidacies, Aurora Polo, who has the support of Eduard Shalsi and the blessing of Ilir Keko, is playing a dirty game to finally take over the management of the public media. She is blackmailing the chairman of the Board of Directors, Leka Bungo, through staged media attacks, by publishing a contract signed by Alfred Peza.
Specifically, in December 2023, Leka Bungo proposes to Alfred Peza a one-day show, on New Year's Eve. It is about the show "Gezura", which was broadcast on December 31, 2023 from 22:00 to 00:00 and for which Leka Bungo received 4 million old lek. This contract, which could only have come from the office of the director-general, came out on the very day that the competition for the new head of RTSH was announced.
A person close to Aurora Polo sent several media outlets the document about Leka Bungo, which SPAK is in danger of leaking. Not only that, but the "director" also responds to the media's interest in this letter from her office, stating that Leka Bungo has violated the law. Attacks on Bungo are daily, while the Council is faced with a decision on the new director.
Aurora Polo no longer enjoys the blessing of RTSH's grandfather, Leka Bungo, who used her to achieve his goals and then left her aside, threatening to replace her with one of his confidants. This has angered the "director", who has launched a campaign of attack and pressure.
Although the media has talked about Iris Luarasi, Mustafa Nano, Mark Marku, Lutfi Dervishi and Majlinda Bregu as possible candidates, none of them have applied yet. As the date of January 20 is approaching, only Aurora Polo and Jetmir Shpuza, Director of RTSH Shkodra, are in the race so far.
On Thursday, the acting director of RTSH Aurora Polo appeared before SPAK. According to sources, SPAK has registered a criminal proceeding for several suspected corrupt affairs at RTSH. Ms. Polo was questioned in the capacity of a person with knowledge, but the possibility that she will be taken as a defendant is not ruled out, although it is believed that Polo has shifted responsibility onto Alfred Peza and Leka Bugo. According to sources, one of the issues for which Aurora Polo was questioned is the affair with the show Fustanella e Altin Basha.
Meanwhile, a recent report by the Supreme State Audit Office has found serious abuses of public funds at RTSH. According to the report, Aurora Polo has allocated public money to a circle of clients inside and outside RTSH.
Engineer Aurora Polo is perhaps the only public official who is paid three state salaries; as director of RTSH, chief of staff at OST, and as an engineer at the Opera Theater, while also receiving money from private business for auditing energy and building efficiency, using her public position at OST.
Aurora Polo and Leka Bungo have also allocated 140 thousand euros for Altin Basha for the end-of-year programs. The affairs are assisted by the 'hawk' Eduart Shalsi, who is a close associate of Aurora Polo's brother-in-law, Aleko Polo. The latter was also Shalsi's chief of staff, when he was Minister of State for the Protection of Entrepreneurship, where in fact he only protected the entrepreneurship of his second wife Eranda Shalsi, spending public money for projects, the businesses of Aurora Polo's husband, as well as the contaminated ice creams of the oligarch, Grigor Joti, who had employed Shalsi's son with his first wife in his company.
