Despite wiretaps, documents and criminal precedents for lowering energy prices in favor of companies like CEZ and Bankers, the Prosecution and SPAK refuse to act against Petrit Ahmeti; the man who manages energy and builds towers in the shadow of the government...

The investigation into corruption and theft committed by the managers of the concession company "Bankers" also includes the Chairman of the Energy Regulatory Authority (ERE), Petrit Ahmeti. However, the Fier Prosecutor's Office has not prosecuted him, despite the evidence and wiretaps available. In the investigation file, Ahmeti's name appears as an accomplice in a fictitious transaction scheme with a profit of 1.4 million euros, through the reduction of the energy price for "Bankers" from 26 to 23 lek per kilowatt.

The decision to reduce this price was made at the beginning of 2022, at a time when the government declared a state of energy emergency, threatening citizens with extreme restrictions on consumption. Meanwhile, for foreign concessionaires, the government and the ERE offered energy at reduced prices and purchased energy at inflated costs, creating space for massive corruption. In wiretaps conducted for the investigation, "Bankers" executives stated that this price reduction was the result of a bargain with the government and Petrit Ahmeti, in exchange for a financial reward that reached the figure of 1.4 million euros in one year.

Despite these facts, Petrit Ahmeti has not been charged. This is not the first time he has been involved in affairs of this nature. In 2022, Ahmeti was summoned to SPAK in the CEZ-DIA case, as he was suspected of having taken a bribe to reduce the price of energy for the Czech company CEZ from 2.8 to 2.2 lek per kilowatt. This action was carried out in collaboration with the group of Ilir Meta and Kastriot Ismailaj, where the latter was sentenced to 11 years in prison. However, Petrit Ahmeti was again not prosecuted.

Neither the Fier Prosecutor's Office nor SPAK have dared to launch serious investigations against him, although he is a key figure in the two biggest energy scandals of the last decade. His protection from punishment raises suspicions of high-level interference and his connection to the power dome. Meanwhile, Ahmeti continues his private activity as a tower builder and energy market manager, taking advantage of his public position and the silence of justice./ Pamphlet
