After the purge of the Tirana Municipality command center by Erion Veliaj's close associates, the sweep ordered by Babloku has moved on to one of the richest and most rumored companies for abuses: Tirana Waterworks.
According to a reliable source from the group close to the current director, Skerdi Drenova, the commanding chairwoman Anuela Ristani, Rama's official deputy in this battle to dismantle the Veliaj clan, has initiated mass dismissals at UKT. A total of 180 names are on the red list, labeled as "loyalists" of Erion Veliaj.
The order was delivered on April 8, just a week after Ristani appointed Skerdi Drenova as director of UKT, a decision that was also blessed with the signature of the Water Regulatory Authority, which reports directly to the "Rama" government.
But by order of Babloku, the disclosure and execution of the list was postponed until after May 11, so as not to open wounds and burn votes within the SP. Because every dismissal of a Veliaj soldier has chain consequences through family and patronage networks at the ballot boxes.
Ristani has launched the "Zero Veliaj in the Municipality" operation with surgical precision. In UKT, it is not about reducing staff. Nor about cutting expenses. Nor about better management of water, sewage, etc.. It is only about a political operation by Babloku: Not a single person from Veliaj will remain in the job.
In fact, there are still about 200 ghost employees left at UKT, who receive salaries without actually seeing the company. Some of them are abroad, but employed in Tirana as "honorary patrons."
This purge is part of Rama's personal and political revenge against Veliaj, launched the moment Erioni was arrested, within 24 hours, without even waiting for the third hour of the procedure. Initially, the general secretary of the Municipality was hit, then the urban planning, taxes, IMT, parking and even the zoo directorate.
This is a pure political hunt, which will cleanse the Municipality of every root, stream and spirit that has anything to do with the man that Rama once sold as his heir. Now that Veliaj is in prison, even his shadows are undesirable.
