With sharp rhetoric and a broad agenda, from internal security to geopolitical developments, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan addressed his party's parliamentary group today, simultaneously launching a fierce attack against Israel and sending a message of strength in every direction.
Referring to the violent shooting incident at a school in Sanliurfa, in southeastern Turkey, the Turkish president expressed his regret and informed about the actions of the authorities, noting that the case is being investigated in depth.
" I want to share my grief over the incident that occurred at a high school in the Siverek neighborhood of Sanliurfa, which hurt us all as a nation. Investigations have been launched into this ugly and disgusting incident, one person has been detained and 4 administrative officials have been suspended. The attack is being investigated from all sides ," he said.
The Turkish president then sharply criticized the existing international system, calling it an "illegal" war in the Middle East.
" The global system built on the rules and institutions established by the victors of World War II is collapsing economically, politically and militarily, while it remains uncertain what will replace it. Humanity's desire for peace, stability and security is being undermined by circles that feed on blood and chaos. The most recent example is the illegal war that began on February 28 and brought our region to the brink of collapse. Who wanted the war and who benefited has now been revealed. Our assessment of the role of the Zionist lobby from day one has proven correct ," Erdogan added.
The Turkish President's tone against the Israeli government was particularly harsh, accusing it of undermining peace and destabilizing the region.
" The Israeli government in particular, which is known to be unhappy with the ceasefire, must not be allowed to undermine the process. If there is to be peace in our region, it will happen in the absence of the Zionist regime."
If there is to be stability, it will happen despite an Israeli government driven by the fantasy of the "Promised Land."
If peace is to come to this bloody geography, it will come in the absence of Israel, which bases its security on the insecurity of others. Israel, whenever there is a spark of hope for peace, will try to sabotage it.
"While humanity tries to put out the fire, the network of massacres will add fuel to the fire. They will target countries like Turkey and Spain, which are raising their voices for peace. But they will not be able to silence the brave hearts ," he stressed.
At the same time, he expressed his support for the Spanish prime minister. "From here, under the roof of the Grand National Assembly, I warmly congratulate my friend Sanchez for his stance against the threats of the 'butcher of Gaza' Netanyahu," he said.
The Turkish president sent a clear message to those who, as he said, are attacking Turkey, underlining the country's determination.
"We will not give in to the language of hatred, tension and conflict. We will continue to speak the truth with dignity and courage. We will continue to reveal the truths that some try to hide. Unlike those who owe their existence to the decisions of others a century ago, we will continue to act with a sense of responsibility based on our millennial experience. I remind those who attack us through social networks: The Turkish Republic is not an ordinary state. No force can threaten Turkey and its president. No one should confuse our calmness with weakness. We prefer to lie honorably underground, rather than live without dignity above it ," he said.
