Trump harshly criticizes Republicans: Stupid people!

US President Donald Trump has lashed out at some of his most loyal supporters, calling them "weak" and "deluded" over doubts they have raised about the transparency of secret government investigations into the case of the late Jeffrey Epstein, the high-profile socialite and sex offender.

Trump is facing an unusual political crisis within his Make America Great Again (MAGA) base, as many conservatives have begun to suspect that the administration is hiding details of Epstein's crimes to protect the wealthy elite with whom he was associated, among them Trump himself.

In a lengthy post on his "Truth Social" network, Trump accused his former voters of falling prey to what he called a "radical leftist hoax" to discredit him.

" Their new hoax is what we will forever call the 'Epstein Lie,' and my FORMER supporters have bought into this nonsense, without a doubt. They have learned nothing and probably never will, even after being duped for 8 years by the Crazy Left ," Trump wrote.

" Let these weaklings continue and do the Democrats' job, don't you dare mention our extraordinary successes, because I don't want their support anymore ," he said.

One of the most widespread theories among Trump supporters is that Epstein, who was found dead in 2019 in a federal cell, did not commit suicide but was murdered by powerful people to cover up their role in his network of child sex crimes.

Republican voters and politicians are pushing Trump to declassify the so-called “Epstein files.” On Truth Social, numerous users have asked him to provide more information.

You are losing your biggest loyalists, Mr. President ,” one comment read. Another asked: “ Why are you defending pedophiles?

Instead of responding, Trump lashed out in an unusual tone, departing from previous efforts to calm his followers. A day earlier, he had attempted to deflect public opinion, calling the investigation "boring," but at the same time saying he was in favor of releasing any "credible information," without explaining what that meant.

" I don't understand why the Epstein case should be of interest to anyone. It's dirty, but boring. I don't understand why it's still being talked about. Only bad people, including the fake news media, want to keep this topic alive. But if there's any credible information, let them come forward. Whatever is credible, I'm all for it being published ," Trump declared on Tuesday evening.

During his campaign, Trump has promoted many conspiracy theories through the MAGA movement, including the idea that the country is controlled by a “deep state” made up of shadowy elites. This rhetoric has contributed to growing paranoia among his followers, who are now, unlike before, beginning to question their own leader over the Epstein affair.

Last week, the Justice Department and FBI announced that a review of case files confirmed that Epstein had committed suicide and that there was no client list to be made public.

The conservative base's anger has focused on Attorney General Pam Bondi, who led the investigation and had previously said that "Epstein's client list is on my desk for review."

Other powerful voices on the American right have called for Trump to disclose any information about the case. Even his son's daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, who is a Fox News host, said: "I think there needs to be more transparency on this issue."

On Tuesday, House Speaker Mike Johnson called on the Justice Department to release the documents, a rare departure from Trump's stance. /Adapted from "The Guardian"
