Three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets violated Estonian airspace for 12 minutes on Friday, according to a statement from the Estonian government.
On Friday morning, three Russian MIG-31 fighter jets illegally entered Estonian airspace in the area of Vaindloo Island and remained there for approximately 12 minutes.
The plane had no flight plans and its GPS was off. At the time of the violation, the planes were also not in two-way radio communication with Estonian air traffic services.
The Estonian Foreign Ministry summoned the temporary representative of the Russian Federation to Estonia to protest and deliver a note regarding the violation of Estonian airspace.
"Russia has already violated Estonian airspace 4 times this year, which in itself is unacceptable, but today's violation, in which three fighter jets entered our airspace, is brutal and unprecedented," Estonia's foreign minister said.
It is further emphasized that Russia's increasing testing of borders and aggression must be met with a rapid intensification of political and economic pressure.
Estonia is the second country after Poland to issue a serious warning, announcing that Russian unmanned aircraft (drones) have entered and violated Polish airspace.
In a message on Telegram, the Ukrainian Air Force said that Russian drones are over Poland and moving west, towards the city of Zamosc!
Meanwhile, according to reports, Rzeszow-Jasionka airport in eastern Poland has been closed due to "unplanned military activity related to state security."
Shortly thereafter, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that three more airports had been closed.
These are Warsaw Chopin International Airport, Warsaw Modlin Airport and Lublin Airport, according to the same FAA announcements.
