A macabre event has occurred in Trieste, Italy, where a mother took the life of her 9-year-old son.
The serious incident occurred in Muggia, in the province of Trieste.
The perpetrator has been identified as Olena Stasiuk, a 55-year-old Ukrainian woman, who, according to Italian media, used a large kitchen knife to kill him.
The child's lifeless body was discovered on Wednesday evening by police, following a report from the father.
The latter could not contact his wife, as they had been separated for a long time. She was supposed to return the son to his father at 9 pm, but he took his own life.
Upon arriving at the house in the center of Muggia, officers found the mother in a state of shock and could only confirm the death of the child, found in the bathroom. The woman was taken into custody and taken to Cattinara Hospital.
According to reports, this was the first time she had held the baby alone. The mayor of Muggia, Paolo Polidori, has declared a day of mourning.
