American President Joe Biden in a press conference announced the strengthening of measures for the security of his rival Donald Trump after today's assassination.
Biden said he had a brief conversation with Trump and says he's glad he's doing well. While he reiterated that "there is no place for violence in the United States".
"There is no place in America for this kind of violence, or any violence for that matter. An assassination attempt goes against everything we stand for as a nation. Everything. It is not who we are as a nation. It's not America. And we cannot allow that to happen. Unity is the most elusive goal of all, but nothing is as important as that right now: Unity ," Biden said.
The US president said he has instructed the head of the US Secret Service to review security measures ahead of this week's Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. Biden added that he had ordered an independent investigation into security at the Trump rally to "assess exactly what happened.
