US President Donald Trump began his address to the nation at midnight on Wednesday by praising NASA for the launch of the Artemis II mission, before moving on to a broad assessment of the war with Iran.

Addressing the American people from the White House, the US President said that US and Israeli forces have dealt Tehran "swift, decisive and overwhelming" blows, speaking of "victories that few have ever seen."

"Iran's navy is gone, its air force is in ruins," Trump said, adding that the country's leadership has been largely neutralized and that the Revolutionary Guard's command structure is "being destroyed now."

Trump said the US is getting very close to completing military operations against Iran. "I am pleased to say that the main strategic objectives are nearing completion," he said, while proposing a two- to three-week deadline to reach a deal with Iran, or bomb its infrastructure.

The president said the US would "hit" Iran "extremely hard" over the next two or three weeks, likely dashing the hopes of those who hoped the war would end soon. "We're going to hit them extremely hard over the next two or three weeks," Trump said, adding, "We're going to put them back in the Stone Age, where they belong."

Despite the apparent escalation, Trump said that "discussions are continuing," leaving a diplomatic resolution on the table.

Attacks on nuclear power plants and "red lines"

Trump also claimed that the US was working to destroy Iran's drone and missile capabilities, while reiterating that since 2015 he had vowed never to allow Tehran to acquire nuclear weapons.

Referring to the June attacks, he noted that he initially sought a diplomatic solution, however, as he said, the Iranian leadership rejected his proposals, ultimately leading to the attacks on nuclear facilities in June, in the midst of the war with Israel.

According to Trump, Iran was "one step away" from acquiring a nuclear bomb, while the facilities hit by B-2 bombers were damaged to such an extent that "it will take months to restore them."

The American president assessed that the main strategic objectives of the operations are "near completion," while leaving open the possibility of new serious attacks.

"If we see the slightest movement towards nuclear weapons, we will hit them again very hard," he warned, adding that the US would continue to act "very aggressively" over the next "two to three weeks" while contacts would continue in parallel.

"Regime change was not the goal"

At the same time, he tried to dissociate the operations from the goal of regime change, stressing that "regime change was never a goal." But he added that "in practice this has already happened, as "most of their leaders have been killed."

Oil and the Strait of Hormuz

At the same time, he reiterated that the US has no energy dependence on the Middle East, emphasizing that its presence in the region is not tied to oil.

"We don't need their oil. We don't need anything they have," he said, emphasizing that the US involvement is in support of its allies.

In the same context, he argued that the responsibility for securing navigation in the Strait of Hormuz should belong to countries that are energy dependent on the region, not the United States.

"There is no reason for us to do this," he said, calling on allies to take the initiative to protect the critical sea passage.

In conclusion, Trump asserted that "the US holds all the cards" and that Iran "has none," while describing the Islamic Republic as "a former Middle Eastern bully," emphasizing that "that is no longer the case."

"When this is all over, the United States will be safer, stronger, more prosperous, and greater than ever before."

"God bless the men and women of the United States Armed Forces and God bless the United States of America. Thank you very much and good night," he concluded. /Pamphlet/
