Iran has reacted for the first time after coordinated attacks by the United States and Israel, declaring that its military is on full alert to defend its territory and national interests.
In an official statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced that the Israeli attacks launched in the early hours of the morning targeted "the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of the country, including defensive infrastructure and civilian sites in various cities."
According to authorities in Tehran, the military intervention constitutes a clear violation of international norms.
"The renewed military aggression of the US and the Zionist regime against Iran is a violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations. The Islamic Republic of Iran considers this aggression a clear violation of international peace and security and reserves the right to respond decisively," the statement said.
The ministry stressed that, in its opinion, Iran has shown restraint in order to maintain stability in the region, while stressing that the armed forces are prepared for any development. The attacks were described as a “clear example of armed aggression,” referring to Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, which provides for the right to self-defense.
At the end of the official response, it is emphasized: "History shows that Iranians have never submitted to aggression. This time, Iran's response will be decisive and the aggressors will regret their hostile actions," the statement concludes.
