Donald Trump Jr. made a last-minute push for Ohio Sen. JD Vance in recent days as his father, former President Donald Trump, officially picked him today as his running mate.

According to CNN, Trump Jr. asked his father during a late-night dinner at Mar-a-Lago to pick Vance, arguing that he was a true believer in Trump's agenda.

Trump himself said earlier that after discussions and thoughts, he decided that the Ohio senator, Vance, is "the most suitable person to take the position of Vice President of the United States."
