Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved a focused military budget for the period 2025-2027, according to a document published on the official legislation website on Sunday.
The state budget for next year includes a 25% increase in military spending, but it will be the most secretive in post-Soviet history, with almost a third of all spending closed to public scrutiny, Reuters reports.
The government has acknowledged that the needs of what Moscow calls its special military operation in Ukraine and support for the military will remain a budget priority alongside social needs and technological development.
The government has presented the "balanced" draft budget, where the deficit has fallen to 0.5% against this year's predicted deficit of 1.7% and the state debt remains below the 20% limit for the next three years.
