The Prime Minister of Italy, Giorga Meloni, went to Serbia today for an official visit, where she will be received by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
This is the first visit to Serbia since she was elected prime minister of Italy.
At 14:15 in front of the "Serbia" Palace, a formal reception has been scheduled and then a meeting between them, reports RTS.
According to Vucic, the topic of conversation between them will be the Kosovo-Serbia negotiations, as well as "bilateral cooperation between the two countries and economic relations".
Vucic claimed that "Melon's visit is important for our political relations and Italy's continued support for Serbia's progress on the road to the EU, but also because Italy is the second most important partner of Serbia in the European Union and in the overall, the third most important partner of Serbia".
Media in Belgrade write that there will also be a discussion on European and international issues as some EU member states are confused by the relationship between Belgrade and Moscow and consider it a danger to the Union.
However, the process of European integration remains the main way to anchor Serbia in the Western camp. The issue of Kosovo also remains a central element of political life in Serbia.
From the Italian and European perspective, it is essential to prevent the recent tensions in the north of Kosovo from hindering the EU-facilitated Belgrade-Pristina dialogue and the agreement on the normalization of relations between Serbia and Kosovo, reached in March in Ohrid, Macedonia. North.
Melon's visit also serves to support this dialogue.
