Poland rushed to scramble its and allied aircraft in the early hours of this morning to ensure the security of its airspace.
"Polish and allied aircraft are operating in our airspace, while ground-based air defense systems and reconnaissance radar systems are set at the highest level of detection," the Polish General Staff's operations command said via X.
The fighter jets took off at around 5:40 a.m. when the alert was raised for threats of Russian attacks, while about 3 hours later the operation of the Polish and allied air forces was interrupted, while Moscow's attacks on Ukraine ceased.
"Our actions were preventive in nature and aimed at securing airspace in areas adjacent to the threatened area," the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command said in a recent message.
The tensions in Poland come just hours after three Russian MIG-31 jets violated Estonian airspace, forcing Tallinn to seek consultations with allies to activate NATO's Article 4 Protocol.
The Russian Defense Ministry, on the other hand, denied that the Russian planes had violated Estonian airspace, while emphasizing that they carried out a planned flight and in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace, without violating the borders of other states.
The head of the White House, Donald Trump, also reacted to the incident, saying that he was unhappy with the incidents, while emphasizing that they could create a very big problem.
While French President Emmanuel Macron, while emphasizing that the violations represent another step in the accumulation of irresponsible actions by Russia, warned that a security stance will soon be adopted in response to these repeated provocations.
