Serbian political scientist Boris Varga has stated that the news of the resignation of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic was a political game of his own.
Invited to Euronews Albania, Varga emphasized that Vucic does not want the burden of the decline in popularity of his party to pull him to the political end. He further adds that the Serbian president will appoint the most trusted man who will carry out his orders at the head of the party.
"The resignation of Aleksandar Vucic should never be seen as an act of consistency of any principle or his understanding of democratic responsibility. It is more about a game or political maneuvering of President Vučić himself. He will place the most trusted man in the position of party leader who will only do what Aleksandar Vucic tells him. So President Vucic is closely following public opinion, which says that his personal evaluation is now higher than that of his party. And therefore he is trying to distance himself from it, making a new movement, a separate national movement for the state. "Aleksandar Vucic does not want the burden of the decline of his party's popularity to drag him to the political end," said the Serbian political scientist.
