A serious incident has occurred in the US Indian region where a house cleaner from Guatemala tragically lost her life in Indiana after arriving at the wrong house to clean.
Maria Florinda Rios Perez was shot to death by a homeowner while her husband was standing nearby at the time of the incident. Police said they were called to the wrong address shortly before 7:00 a.m. after a report of a possible robbery.
According to preliminary investigations, Rios Perez and her husband, Mauricio Velazquez, had not entered the house and were found lying on the porch when a bullet fired from inside struck Rios Perez, leaving him dead at the scene.
Police officials are considering the possibility of filing charges against the homeowner, who allegedly shot and killed the cleaner.
The case is still under investigation by the Boone County District Attorney's Office, which has warned that it is a "complex case" that may require time to determine legal liability.
Mauricio Velazquez, Rios Perez's husband, has demanded justice for his dead wife.
He told CBS News that the bullet that killed his wife came through the front door of the house, creating an unbelievable tragedy. Velazquez said that instead of resorting to gunfire, the police should have been called to handle the situation more peacefully.
