A shocking video reportedly shows the moment an Azov fighter managed to escape an explosive device planted on a scooter in the Dniprovsky district of Kiev.
According to the investigation by the Ukrainian authorities, "a resident of the Kiev region, who had been recruited by the Russian secret services, came to the capital with the aim of preparing a terrorist act. To carry out the order from Moscow, the suspect built an explosive device in a rented apartment according to the instructions given to him by his supervisor."
"The person who ordered the crime bought a scooter on a classified ads website, on which explosives would be placed. The suspect was supposed to leave the scooter with the explosives at the designated location in the Dniprovsky district of Kiev," reports the Ukrainian newspaper Ukrainska Pravda.
According to Ukrainian media, the target of this terrorist attack appears to have been a fighter from the Azov brigade of the National Guard. The Ukrainian soldier was lured under the pretext of a "meeting" with a girl he "met" on the Internet.
The explosives, which were on a scooter parked near the meeting point, were remotely activated. However, the soldier stopped at the last moment a few steps away from the scooter and ended up with only minor injuries, as the explosives did not work properly.
The suspect is currently in custody. Prosecutors from the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office said the young man is suspected of committing a terrorist act.
A similar incident occurred a few days ago in Kharkiv, where a 19-year-old resident of Ukraine's second-largest city was arrested on suspicion of committing a terrorist act. She, on instructions from Russian intelligence, handed over a scooter packed with explosives to the Ukrainian military under the pretext of "voluntary assistance." As a result of the explosion, one soldier was killed and another was injured.
