Montenegro is regarded as a leader in the Western Balkans in terms of the EU membership process. This country has been a candidate since 2010, and in 2012 opened membership talks with Brussels.

It opened all chapters of the membership process, but temporarily closed only three chapters.

Despite the fact that it is considered the most advanced country in membership talks, since 2012, Montenegro has not had any intergovernmental conference (which is within the framework of membership talks), due to insufficient progress in the reform process , which is a very necessary step to make progress in the membership talks.

The new government is expected to be formed by Millojko Spajić, it will be the third since the departure of the Democratic Party of Socialists of Milo Djukanović from power in August 2020.

The first government of Zdravko Krivokapić, formed under the influence of the Serbian Orthodox Church, lasted 14 months.

In it, Jakov Millatović and Millojko Spajić were ministers.

The second government, headed by Dritan Abazović, was faced after three months with a vote of no confidence and until today it operates with a technical mandate./REL
