Mass protests have returned to Belgrade. Students and citizens have taken to the streets, remembering the 1st anniversary of the attack by regime thugs on students protesting the Novi Sad tragedy.
At today's protest in front of the FDU and the Faculty of Agriculture in Belgrade, protesters stood for 16 minutes of silence in memory of the 16 victims of the Novi Sad tragedy, before fleeing towards the Municipality of Novi Beograd.
Students at the blockade of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts called on citizens to protest together on the one-year anniversary of the attack, when they were beaten by regime thugs, among whom were local officials.
This attack was followed by blockades of faculties in Serbia.
From 11:30 am, there was a rally in front of the FDU building, and after a 16-minute silence, they continued the rally towards New Belgrade, Sava Square, the Palace of Justice, Mostar, while the last stop will be the Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) building.
Another group of students have gathered at the Faculty of Agriculture, who also, after 16 minutes of silence, have headed towards the New Belgrade Municipality, where they will continue their protest march together with students starting from the Faculty of Agriculture.
"A year after the attack on FDU students, no one has responded. That is why on Saturday we will pass by every institution that is responsible for it. One year, the same demand," the students declared in a call on the social network Instagram.
On November 22, 2024, FDU students joined the "Stop, Serbia" action, with which people across the country paid tribute with 15 minutes of silence and roadblocks for the same duration, when the incident occurred on the Boulevard of the Arts.
Several drivers whose cars were stopped by this action got out of their vehicles and clashed with the crowd, and students shared photos and videos of the culprits on social media, among whom they recognized officials of the Serbian Progressive Party.
One of the students' demands when the protests began was to sanction all those responsible for the attack on the students, which has not fully happened to this day.
