The House Oversight Committee has resumed its Hillary Clinton impeachment hearings after a hiatus. They were suspended after Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert shared a photo of Clinton inside the closed-door hearing with political podcaster Benny Johnson, who posted it on social media.
The photo violated the commission's rules on evidence, but Boebert posted on X to say Johnson did nothing wrong.
"The photo was before the hearing, right at the moment when the witness's opening statement was released before the testimony began. A fun little break ," she told the BBC.
Hillary Clinton's lawyers objected "loudly" after the House Oversight Committee learned of the Clinton photo.
The lawyers immediately asked to break the closed-door proceedings and highlighted the fact that Clinton had requested and been denied a public hearing.
Democratic politician Robert Garcia, a senior member of the committee, called for the media to be allowed to attend the testimony after the information was leaked.
