The new public opinion survey conducted by (NSPM) shows what the government has been trying to hide for months: that support for the SNS has stagnated, while the opposition bloc, including the joint list of students and the opposition, is in the lead.
According to the results of a telephone survey conducted in December, in a sample of 1,500 respondents, 35 percent of citizens would vote for the current government.
On the other hand, the joint list of students and the opposition receives 41 percent support. Even 23.5 percent of respondents are undecided, which constitutes a serious potential for a further decline in the regime's rating.
Researchers conclude that for some time now there has been no major movement in the balance of power between the ruling and anti-regime blocs. However, the figures speak clearly: despite media dominance and pressure, the SNS does not even manage to exceed 35 percent of support.
The research also included citizens' positions on foreign policy. Regarding the European Union, 30.4 percent of respondents fully support Serbia's EU membership, while 28.8 percent completely oppose it.
When those who "mostly support" are included, total support for membership increases to 47.1 percent, while "strong" and "soft" opponents account for 42.9 percent.
In other words, despite the long-standing ambiguous foreign policy of the government balancing between Brussels and Moscow, the relative majority of citizens still see the future in the EU.
Only about ten percent of respondents support Serbia's membership in NATO, while 84 percent oppose it.
A similar ratio is observed regarding the possible imposition of sanctions against Russia, with only 10.7 percent in favor, while 79 percent against.
Interestingly, Russia, with 24.5 percent, continues to be in first place in terms of perception as the "closest country," ahead of Hungary, Germany, and China. However, researchers note a decline compared to previous periods, when this percentage exceeded 30 percent.
The research shows that the SNS does not have a majority, the opposition has a lead, while almost a quarter of voters are waiting for an alternative.
