Meloni's government and Italy are left in the dust!
Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni

These are all things we've seen before in recent decades: weak governments and dirty maneuvers. From this perspective, Italy hasn't changed...

Has the atmosphere in the country really changed? Of course, the right has become fearful: the effect of the referendum. Since March 23, there have been a series of mistakes, setbacks, resignations, blunders and even a small amount of unexpected bad luck. Giorgia Meloni has faltered, but not fallen, unlike several ministers, from Carlo Nordio to Adolfo Urso, to name just two. However, standing on her feet, the Prime Minister has seemed at a loss in her movements and, above all, unable to change gears, to present something strong.

Certainly not the so-called fair wage, some incentives for companies that hire young people, the usual measure for May Day. When instead, the issue is the real protection of purchasing power, a prerequisite for the revival of consumption. However, for economic growth there is nothing. They are simply playing in the middle ground, as radio commentators used to say.

They are not even managing to put the electoral law into motion: the reasons are attributed to the League, which does not want the abolition of single-member constituencies, and Forza Italia, which is against a strong bonus and wants an ambiguous result, the famous lottery, which would allow for a new political alchemy.

In other words, the Brothers of Italy are stuck, while the other two are, at best, engaged in shady dealings that contribute to the disintegration of the center-right. Moreover, the Roberto Vannacci phenomenon is eroding the consensus, and in fact the polls show very tight coalitions, because the center-right suddenly loses three percentage points to the benefit not of the broad camp, but of the National Future, not because the center-left has made any significant step forward.

In this bleak picture for the majority, the broad camp seems more united than before, but faces well-known problems of political line and leadership, which the big bosses do not intend to solve before the September resumption, unless the government situation worsens. As for the center, which is not gaining ground in the polls, Luigi Marattin's nervousness was noticed yesterday, which could be negative for that area.

The torn political landscape, the lack of stability, the uncertainty and the conflicts within all political factions only foster the feeling of a country without a compass or reference point, in which episodes of violence multiply: a weak state is perfect for every madman, for the intolerant, for Roman salutes.

Politics is weak because there is no party, no figure capable of responding to the crisis of the state and the economy.

It is possible, as in all the worst moments of the Republic, that there are circles that aim to weaken the figure of the President of the Republic in order to promote maximum confusion. In this sense, the Nicole Minetti pardon affair was concocted to create a problem for the President: by whom, we cannot know. One can only suspect, based on experience, that behind the mystique of investigative journalism lies the usual cooking of poisoned meatballs, including the denunciations of Sigfrido Ranucci against Carlo Nordio, moreover on a competing television station of RAI.
