Iran continues to have thousands of missiles and drones in its arsenal, according to a new US intelligence assessment.
The assessment comes after weeks of intensive bombing by US and Israeli forces, which aimed to weaken Tehran's military capabilities.
Marine Corps Lt. Gen. James Adams, director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, told lawmakers that Iran “possesses thousands” of single-target missiles and attack drones, which he said continue to pose a threat to U.S. forces and their allies in the region.
During testimony before the House Armed Services Committee, Adams stressed that Iran has managed to preserve the munitions "despite the degradation of its capabilities from both attrition and expense."
The military operation known as "Epic Fury" involved thousands of airstrikes by the US and Israel against Iranian targets, before a two-week ceasefire came into effect at the beginning of the month.
Meanwhile, Air Force General Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said on April 8 that the US military had struck more than 450 ballistic missile storage facilities and about 800 facilities for single-tracked attack drones. He added that “all of these systems are gone.”
However, intelligence assessments suggest that, despite these strikes, Iran still maintains a significant military arsenal.
