Lebanese journalist Hassan Illaik has stated that, according to information he claims to have, a possible American military operation against Iran could be launched from the territory of the United Arab Emirates.
Illaik, who worked for the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, known for its ties to Hezbollah, said Iran had received intelligence from a "major state" regarding a possible intervention against Iranian islands near the Strait of Hormuz.
In his statements, he warned of serious consequences in the event of such a development, also referring to a possible military response from Iran against the United Arab Emirates.
"Intelligence data that Iran has received from a major country indicates the imminent start of an American invasion of Iranian islands near the Strait of Hormuz, which will be carried out from territories under the control of the Emirati regime. Advice to friends in the UAE: When this invasion begins, quickly leave the country, by land, towards Oman or Saudi Arabia. The start of this invasion will make the Iranian response to the Emirati regime something that no eye has seen, no ear has heard and no mind of Bin Zayed has imagined. Winter is coming for the Nahyan house," the journalist declared, referring to the ruling family in the Emirates.
These claims have not been confirmed by official sources and come in a context of high tensions in the region.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has stated that the United States is in the process of talks with Iran and has decided to temporarily postpone attacks on Iranian energy infrastructure.
"Talks are ongoing and going very well," Trump said, announcing a 10-day suspension of planned military action.
According to reports, the US is also expected to send over 10,000 additional troops to the Middle East, as part of strengthening its presence in the region.
