A poll conducted by Rating Group on August 21-23 shows that President Volodymyr Zelensky is not the most trusted political figure in Ukraine. The first place was taken by Kiev's ambassador to the United Kingdom, four-star general Valery Zaluzhny.
According to the survey results, 74% of Ukrainians say they trust Zaluzhny, while Zelensky enjoys a trust level of 68%. This result shows that the president's popularity has declined, while the general continues to be seen as a symbol of military resilience and national integrity.
The survey also highlighted several important trends:
-59% of those surveyed support stopping the fighting and seeking a compromise.
-Only 13% demand that the war continue until the borders before the Russian invasion are restored.
-82% consider negotiations to be the most realistic way to end the war.
-75% think that a ceasefire should only be accepted if international security is guaranteed.
-58% see securing sustainable funding for the military and weapons supplies as a priority.
The results clearly show that Ukrainian society wants peace, but not at any cost. The message is simple: any compromise with Russia must come only with strong guarantees from international partners, otherwise the sacrifices made so far would be in vain.
This poll, in addition to exposing the slight decline in trust in Zelensky, is a strong political signal to Western allies: without stable economic and military support, Ukraine cannot negotiate from an equal position.
