Following the shooting and fire in Caciland, where one person was shot in the leg, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić personally informed the public about official information from the investigation, although as president he has no authority when it comes to such matters.
Justice Minister Nenad Vujic and Police Director Dragan Vasiljevic were present at the press conference, but did not say a word about this case, even though they are the people who should be talking about it, especially the Police Director.
However, Vučić described the shooting near the Serbian Parliament as a "politically motivated terrorist act" by a former State Security employee who aimed to cause panic among the public.
"It was only a matter of time before it happened ," he added.
According to details made public by the Serbian president, the perpetrator is 70 years old and was part of the State Security and Intelligence Agency (BIA). He approached the Serbian Parliament building with a can of gasoline, intending to set it on fire, while he was armed.
The suspected perpetrator of the attack, identified as VA, has been arrested by police. He is charged with attempted murder and creating a public danger.
