Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has threatened a strong response if Iran launches an attack on Israel, amid ongoing tensions between the two countries and following recent military escalations in the region.
In a televised press conference, Netanyahu declared that Israel would not hesitate to act with extreme force.
"If Iran makes the grave mistake of attacking Israel, we will respond with a force that Iran has never seen," he said.
The Israeli prime minister's statements come just days after meetings he held in Israel with senior American advisers, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
According to Witkoff, "broader regional issues" were discussed during Saturday's talks, which is seen as a possible reference to the high tensions between the United States and Iran.
These developments have fueled speculation that Washington and Tel Aviv may again consider military action against Tehran, following the 12-day standoff in June, when Israel launched deadly bombings against Iran.
During his televised speech, Netanyahu also referred to US President Donald Trump's recent comments about Iran, which the latter had previously threatened for its suppression of anti-government protests.
"President Trump will decide what the State of Israel decides ," Netanyahu said, without giving further details.
