An anti-drug operation by the Carabinieri in Italy has led to the arrest of 10 people, nine Italian citizens (including a woman), and one Albanian, aged 24 to 64, in the provinces of Milan, Monza and Tropea, after transporting hundreds of kilograms of drugs from Spain.
The arrests were made following an order signed by the investigating judge of Milan, at the request of the Antimafia District Directorate.
Soldiers of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of the Sesto San Giovanni Company discovered the existence of a criminal group dedicated to the trafficking of hashish and marijuana in January 2021, which worked for over two years, managing to reconstruct the activities of the group, which bought drugs abroad country and imported them from Spain to Italy.
The exact roles and tasks were determined by investigators, who identified a contact person who managed contacts with drug suppliers directly from Spain and identified in which private homes of the suspects and warehouses in industrial areas in the provinces of Monza and Milan the narcotics were hidden . In total, over 27 shipments of marijuana and hash were documented and 283 kg of marijuana and 158 kg of hash were seized from five members of the group. Two of the suspects are also accused of using funds derived from illegal activity in cryptocurrency (“Ethereum”) thinking they could hide them.
"Arrest in prison" measure was taken for 8 of the suspects. At the same time, a preventive seizure decree will be executed with the aim of direct confiscation, up to the amount of 2 million and 400 thousand euros, which will have as its object the property of the promoters and organizers of the criminal group, including the entire business summary of the two companies (a bar and a car rental company), five buildings and three plots of land (for an estimated value of over €500,000), seven vehicles, including a sports car (for an estimated value of over €300,000) and membership fees in the amount of approximately €20,000, in addition to movable assets that will be identified during the execution phase.
