US President Donald Trump has sent a signal to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin that the US is willing to make some concessions in exchange for a peace deal in Ukraine.
Answering questions from reporters on the South Lawn in front of the White House, Trump said that lifting anti-Russian sanctions would be possible if a peace deal for Ukraine is reached.
"I would very much like to ease the sanctions. I would like that war to end. I spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin. We would like to see the war end and we would like to end it as quickly as possible ," Trump said in response to a TASS journalist's request to comment on a possible easing of sanctions on Moscow and expanding economic and trade ties between Russia and the United States.
We recall that the US-Russia-Ukraine held trilateral meetings at the negotiator level in Geneva a few days ago, where the possible terms of a peace agreement were discussed. There was no significant progress at that meeting, while the next trilateral meeting will be held in March.
