The US military has carried out an attack in Baghdad against an Iraqi militia leader responsible for attacks on US forces in the country, a US official said.
The Iraqi leader of the organization and another person were killed in the attack.
According to the same source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the attack was against a vehicle and aimed at the leader of "Harakat al Nujaba". Police sources and eyewitnesses have reported that a drone fired at least two missiles at a building east of Baghdad.
" We will take revenge and make the Americans regret carrying out this attack ," threatened an Iraqi militia commander.
The United States has 900 troops in Syria and 2,500 in Iraq. According to Washington, the role of its troops in these two countries is to prevent a possible recovery of the terrorists of the Islamic State, the Guardian reports.
In recent days, the US has also attacked Yemen's pro-Iranian Houthi rebels, following attacks on ships near the Red Sea that they claimed were linked to Israel.
