Vance arrives in Israel, announces establishment of special center for Gaza

US Vice President JD Vance has begun a key visit to Israel, seeking to consolidate the fragile ceasefire reached earlier this month between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The visit comes amid a tense climate, with both sides accusing each other of violating the agreement, the humanitarian situation in Gaza remaining dire and political uncertainty growing.

Vance arrived in Tel Aviv on Tuesday and held meetings with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and senior Trump administration officials, including Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. He officially announced the opening of the Civil-Military Cooperation Center (CMCC), a new structure that will deal with the reconstruction of Gaza and is expected to serve as a model for intervention in other global conflicts.

In his statement, Vance stressed that the ceasefire should not be measured by every violent incident, but should be supported and preserved as a basis for lasting peace. He sharply criticized the stance of some American and Western media outlets, which, according to him, foster an atmosphere of doubt about the success of the agreement and try to predict its failure at all costs.

" There's a strange attitude that I've sensed in the American media, in the Western media, where there's almost this desire to support failure, that every time something bad happens and every time there's an act of violence, there's this tendency to say, 'Oh, this is the end of the ceasefire, this is the end of the peace plan,' " he says.

On the other hand, American structures on the ground report faster progress than initially anticipated in implementing the points of the agreement, including the launch of the first reconstruction projects and temporary administration mechanisms for Palestinian civilian areas.

Vance's visit marks an increase in the direct involvement of the US administration in the process of stabilizing the region and represents an attempt to impose a new political agenda in negotiations with Israel, seeking the start of long-term talks for a permanent solution to the conflict.

Meanwhile, tensions have not been lacking on the ground. Just a few days ago, Israel reported that two soldiers were killed in a Hamas attack, which led to a wave of air strikes in Gaza and casualties among the Palestinian population. In this context, diplomatic efforts are at a critical point, where any mistake could cause another outbreak of violence.
