Attacks continue in the Middle East, US withdraws personnel from Jordan...
The escalation of the conflict in the Middle East continues with intensity, as Israel announced new waves of airstrikes on the Iranian capital, Tehran.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it had struck “dozens” of targets belonging to the Iranian regime and its intelligence services. According to the official statement, the strikes targeted headquarters, bases and regional command centers of internal security structures, as well as over 10 facilities linked to the main intelligence services under the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence.
The IDF added that it also struck several missile launchers and ballistic systems, in an attempt to weaken Iran's offensive capabilities.
Meanwhile, tensions have also reached neighboring countries. The U.S. Embassy in Jordan said all personnel had been temporarily evacuated “out of an abundance of caution” due to an unspecified threat. A warning message in Arabic and English can be heard in videos circulating on social media in Amman: “Keep your heads down and take cover, stay away from windows. Stay covered and await further instructions.”
The US embassy in Jordan, one of the largest in the world, is located in a residential and commercial area of the capital, which increases its sensitivity to any security threat.
In another development, the Kuwaiti military confirmed the deaths of two members of the navy in the context of the regional conflict. Sergeants Walid Majid Sulaiman and Abdulaziz Abdulmohsen Dakhel Naser were killed in the line of duty “as part of national missions entrusted to the armed forces,” according to the official statement. Authorities did not provide details on the circumstances of their deaths.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) also announced on Monday the deaths of two more American soldiers during operations in Iran, bringing the total number of casualties since the start of the war to six.
According to their announcement, the soldiers were killed during the Iranian attack on American bases in the Middle East, and their bodies were recently found.
Recent developments indicate that the conflict between Israel and Iran is deepening and increasingly involving regional actors, increasing the risk of broader destabilization in the Middle East.
