What could Salijanj's movement bring? Can it overthrow Sali Berisha?
Ervin Salianji has informed Sali Berisha that he and the people who support him are the political challengers of the Democratic Party, citing the absence and disrespect for the vote.
It is a strong challenge, especially now that what is called the expiration of Berisha's mandate at the head of the DP is approaching.
However, for political dinosaurs like the doctor, expiration labels are simply a formality, and can be changed or removed altogether.
Ervin Salianji must be said to have started a completely normal battle, even beyond the normal for rules, votes, democracy, leadership in the opposition. A battle, which beyond all is still a positive contribution, as it gives more meaning to a debate that should be conducted primarily by grassroots democrats. Who are not the democrats who fled after the failure of Lulzim Basha or his predecessors in the battles for a political process in the DP.
Ervin Salianj's battle is a late test, however, as they say, better late than never. So what can Salianj's movement bring, can he overthrow Sali Berisha?
A strong movement within the DP could oust Sali Berisha to bring in new leadership, but Salianji's movement does not seem to have this objective. Salianji aims more to regain the share he lost from the DP after his imprisonment.
An epic battle in the opposition should normally be a real battle over form, content, and above all, leadership.
Ervin Salianji is a player who, after coming out with the famous mace against the occupiers of the headquarters on January 8, was among the first to amnesty the occupiers of January 8.
With the logic that Sali Berisha has more supporters. A logic that makes no political sense, since there may be many supporters, but in the end, an idea or a leader manages to win over the majority with his project.
However, so far Ervin Salianji has achieved several objectives; he has mobilized many supporters in the opposition, he has awakened the interests of especially the young, but Salianji must show what he thinks about the opposition project as an alternative, its leadership, and then what it will be like and who will be in its government. Without this passport, Salianji will be considered a political ghost in the service of the doctor, as he did after January 8, 2022.
