On the first day of the press conference, they said in the studio that LaCivita would help Berisha remove his "non grata" status from the US by mid-March.
We still don't know how many millions of euros LaCivita will receive from Berisha, but one thing is certain: he will have another loss added to his career as an electoral strategist. This is not a major drama for him as a professional — he has just lost elections in much larger places — but the misuse of his name in Berisha's electoral campaign was insidious and entirely in function of Berisha's personal troubles, not the Democratic Party's.
Berisha himself and his people in the media invented a false agenda for LaCivita in Albania, which was refuted even before May 11th. As early as the first day of the press conference, it was said in the studio that LaCivita would help Berisha to remove the "non grata" from the US by mid-March. Berisha's former deputy foreign minister, at the height of her fantasy, declared that not only would the "non grata" be removed within a month, but that the US would also ask Berisha for an official apology.
Then Këlliçi pushed the deadline to April, and LaCivita disappeared from the scene in the middle of that month. Then Edi Paloka entered the game, making it a fait accompli, saying that the "non grata" had been lifted and Berisha would travel to the USA at the end of the month. While the poor democrats, who believe every nonsense, were waiting with frozen blood, they started to calm them down with phone calls, telling them that he would leave on May 4, then on May 6. It is not known whether they have time to deceive them until Sunday, but this whole saga of lies was built on LaCivita's name.
Meanwhile, he is looking for other contracts and, according to information, is mocking the contract in Albania, as a strange deal where people hope that only the involvement of the US makes them winners.
Throughout the entire electoral campaign, no clear idea of LaCivita was seen, except for Berisha’s cover with number 1 — an idea that Flamur Noka could have given, if he had dared to believe that he would not be taken for a fool. The political messages of the campaign, which are either ridiculous or counterproductive, are justified by the DP as “suggestions of LaCivita”, but it seems clear that they are Berisha’s organic product. Even the coalition with Gjuzi was justified as LaCivita’s idea!
It is not known whether LaCivita was shown Berisha's "moments" of dementia at every rally and what suggestions he might have given. A serious professional would have immediately banned him from appearing in public and would have changed the format of his campaign, presenting it as a campaign of a wise and respected old man, a victim of age. On the contrary, the more Berisha appears in a deteriorating condition, the more they insist on bringing him to the public in the name of LaCivita.
This misuse of LaCivita is not known if there is any financial price for the consequences it will have, but it is a serious damage to his image as an electoral strategist. Berisha does not care about LaCivita, nor about winning. He only cares about creating the idea that he is being rehabilitated in the USA. And the first 6 million dollars paid is not for LaCivita, but for a lawyer who will deal with the "non-women" issue. LaCivita simply serves to justify payments for Berisha's personal troubles.
Of course, LaCivita has another bill and I hope it is bigger than the lawyer's. But no matter how high it is, the public misuse that has been done to his name is the greatest damage that has been caused to him. And if someone translates all the nonsense that has been said in his name, LaCivita will seem like a ridiculous strategist. And this is an image that money cannot buy.
