Blocking may be the easiest solution for the authorities (security and hassle are minimal), but it is certainly not the solution for the people.
However, the solution to the war in Ukraine is perhaps more affordable than the daily struggle of the citizens of Tirana with the traffic that has only the construction sites that seem to never close as a solution.
Every time there is a visit of a high-ranking official to the capital, a marathon, a summit or a car-free day, the title that rattles the nerves is summed up in just two words: Armored Tirana!
And by "armoring" is meant the blocking of traffic on the road, a throwback to the days of covid when going out on the road on foot or in a car was a serious legal violation.
Tirana often turns like the castles of the Middle Ages, that every time a friend or an enemy comes, they close the doors and the residents are trapped like rats.
The most beautiful thing is that out of overzealousness, the police block the streets even before the announced schedule, just to "be inside".
Traffic in Tirana even without congestion is a problem. Is it worth paralyzing the whole day or even an hour in a capital because someone has come to visit?
How did Geneva, this small city that hosts no less than 35 delegations a day, never think of turning the inhabitants into hermitages inside their homes?
Is it time to think about the solution, maybe two gates should be built at Casa Italia, one for the dignitaries and the other for the residents?
The distance from the airport to the center of Tirana is 10-15 kilometers, let a new road be built (underground) just for these cases and the government will no longer burden people with traffic jams everywhere.
In conditions where this road will take years to finish, alternatives can be thought of.
Use of police escorts. Many countries use police escorts to accompany dignitaries.
Thus, only a partial closure is made and for a few minutes, as traffic resumes as soon as the escort convoy passes.
As a NATO country, we can use helicopters from Rinas directly to the boulevard in front of the government building.
Thus, the traffic is not blocked, and the travel time is shortened, where the friend is honored to feel more privileged, seeing from above the beauties that the capital city has to offer.
There are much better variants. Important summits and meetings take place in Rinas, at the airport where there is a special space.
The impact on traffic remains zero - the fantastic landscape between Preza Castle and Skërnderbe Castle in Krujë and the construction of a conference and summit center would be an ideal solution.
So what do we do now? We turn the whole country into an airport...
We block traffic for hundreds of thousands of residents because our friend has come to our house.(!)
Blocking may be the easiest solution for the authorities (security and hassle are minimal), but it is certainly not the solution for the people.

PS "Albanian's home is God's and friend's," says the Prime Minister. Agreed, but why the squares, streets, time and nerves of the Albanians. What the hell does a friend need?!
