There is a war for interests and there is a war for principles. Rich countries can afford the luxury of fighting for principles. Or maybe because they fought for principles, they got where they are...
Those Albanians who say that the USA entered Kosovo in 1999 "for its own interests", do nothing but invalidate the entire Serbian genocide in Kosovo, saying practically the same thing as the Serbian extremists say, that "the American intervention in Kosovo was not a matter of principle and human rights, but a matter of interests, meaning that the Serbs are victims of "American interests".
The beauty is that when you ask them who these interests are specifically, no one knows how to say an exact thing. What do they say about "Trepça mineral resources", etc., what do they say about "Kosovo's geostrategic position". No facts, figures or logic, just words in the air. Yes, the mining assets of Kosovo are not even worth the rent burden for the USA. With concrete numbers in hand. Not worth it.
Apart from others and for the simple reason that with that kind of minerals and so little land area, we don't even have the physical geological possibility to "swim in cash" from mineral wealth and moreover fighting and keeping an American military out of its territory is too expensive. Much more expensive than all the mineral wealth of Kosovo.
The geostrategic position of Kosovo? Don't talk nonsense. What does Kosovo offer from a geostrategic point of view that Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania and the entire eastern wing of NATO up to Finland do not? What does Kosovo offer that Albania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Greece, Croatia, Slovenia do not? And in all these countries American troops have access to NATO bases.
So nothing theoretically and practically. To cut it even shorter. If someone comes out who still insists on "Kosovo's geostrategic position", you can banally shut up by telling them that an American base in Kukës is enough and it's the same thing, that really for the area that Kosovo has, it's the same thing. Understandable for those who know geography.
For those who want to oppose, let them mention something concrete about the above questions, not political theory and philosophy. Concrete facts people for the above questions. But no one says that when the analysis falls on concrete facts for and against, expenses and benefits, there in Kosovo or the alternative, come out badly in the debate.
Why does this phenomenon occur? The first one comes from the Albanian school model that does not stimulate logic but rote learning. The second, for a group of people, comes from the total lack of schooling which creates an inferiority complex and which leads people to speak differently to appear intelligent because "they understand things that those with school do not know". Third, it comes from a total lack of morality and principles in life. And since they are not principled and build their lives "with fit" at every moment, they will look for "fit" and when they don't find it, they will make it up. Fourth, it is a matter of mentality from communism where people did not think with their heads but with the Party's. The Party said "America bad" and these "America bad", the Party said "America good" and these "America good". fifth,
The war in Kosovo was principled. It is not the first time that America is guided by principles for an international policy. Albanians remember it, I believe, because they often quote President Wilson, or the Marshall Plan after the Second World War, which helped rebuild Europe. It's not always interest.
There is a war for interests and there is a war for principles. Rich countries can afford the luxury of fighting for principles. Or maybe because they fought for principles, they got where they are.
