A 37-year-old man has been arrested by police in Tirana after being caught moving around with explosives and weapons, in circumstances that raise suspicions of preparation of criminal acts.
The arrest came after a police pursuit in the Paskuqan area. According to the data, the arrested person, identified as Perikli Doçi, did not obey the stop order and attempted to speed away on a motorcycle without license plates. Police forces pursued him and managed to neutralize him near the Paskuqan lake.
At the time of the arrest, it was found that the 37-year-old had put on a silicone mask and during the physical search and in the vehicle, the Police services found a quantity of explosive material, ready to explode, 10 liters of fuel and 1 firearm (pistol) with ammunition. The vehicle without license plates, suspected of being stolen, was also blocked at the scene.
Preliminary investigations link the 37-year-old to several previous criminal episodes in the area, including gunfire at a residence and an explosive device that caused material damage.
"A possible criminal event against the person and property is prevented, and 2 such events, committed by a citizen with high social risk, are solved."
As a result of a police pursuit, a 37-year-old man was arrested for obtaining, for criminal purposes, explosives, fuel, firearms and a suspected stolen motorcycle without license plates.
At the time of his arrest, he was wearing a silicone mask.
Seized were a quantity of explosive material (ready to explode), 10 liters of fuel, 1 firearm (pistol) with ammunition, 1 silicone mask and 1 motorcycle without license plates (suspected stolen).
As a result of the increased vigilance of the Tirana Police services, to guarantee the safety of citizens, as well as thanks to the intensification of controls and information management in operational ways, the services of Police Commissariat No. 5, in cooperation with specialists from the Serious Crimes Investigation Section, finalized the police operation codenamed "Contingent".
During the operation, a stop sign was issued to a motorcycle without license plates, which was being driven by citizen PD, 37 years old, resident of Paskuqan.
The 37-year-old did not obey the Police order, but continued to drive at high speed, on the motorcycle.
As a result of the police pursuit, he was captured and arrested near Lake Paskuqan.
At the time of the arrest, it was determined that the 37-year-old was wearing a silicone mask and during the physical search and in the vehicle, the Police found a quantity of explosive material, ready to explode, 10 liters of fuel and 1 firearm (pistol) with ammunition.
From further investigations, it is suspected that the arrested citizen, P. D, on 03.10.2025, on “Besim Cera” Street, Paskuqan 1, fired a firearm in the direction of the apartment of citizen QK, and then burned the vehicle used during the commission of the crime, near the bridge of the village of Tapizë, and on 17.10.2025, on “Unaza e Madhe” Street, Paskuqan 2, threw a quantity of explosive material into the apartment of citizen Rr. D., an event from which only material damage was caused.
Furthermore, it is suspected that the motorcycle with which the 37-year-old was found driving at night, on "Mustafa Lita" street, is stolen.
Under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, intensive work continues to identify and apprehend the 37-year-old's possible accomplices, as well as to uncover other criminal events in which he may have been involved.
"The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action," the police announced.
