
The State Police has announced that it participated in a joint operation with the Montenegrin police and Europol, for the release of 11 Arab immigrants who were held hostage by Afghan immigrants in Montenegro.
"The hostage-takers, Afghan immigrants, 2 of whom were arrested in Montenegro, held the hostages in a mountainous territory in Montenegro, at gunpoint, and demanded 50,000 euros to release them. The Traffic Investigation Sector in the Directorate for Narcotics Investigation in the Criminal Police Department in the DPPSH, through receiving information and exchanging it in real time, it became possible to organize the international coded Kidnapping operation", the police announcement said.
The Albanian Police has provided information on the location of these citizens and on other elements that led to the identification of the perpetrators.
Information was exchanged through Europol, with Montenegrin partners, who engaged their police and military services, combed the area and enabled the location and capture in Montenegro of 2 of the perpetrators of the case, illegal immigrants from Afghanistan.
From the investigations, it is suspected that these and two other citizens are involved in other cases of hostage taking in the same area.
