42-year-old Vladimir (Valmir) Kola, accused of the murder of Briken Sanaj, is being extradited from Germany. He was arrested in April 2024 during Operation "Versus", following cooperation between the State Police and German authorities.
The Tirana Court had imposed the security measure "Arrest with imprisonment" on him since November 2022. Vladimir Kola is accused of having executed citizen Briken Sanaj with a firearm in revenge on October 30, 2022, in the "Kodra e Diellit" complex, in collaboration with other persons.
Assisted by a third person, the perpetrators quickly fled in a Mercedes Benz car, which they burned, while the fourth person acted as an observer.
Briken Sanaj is suspected of being killed for the injury inflicted 10 years ago by the victim's brother, Antonio alias Renato Sanaj, on a girl. At that time, Renato shot and wounded Gentian Kola. The two families in Lezha were involved in a blood feud and attempts at reconciliation were unsuccessful.
"Within the framework of the cooperation of Interpol Tirana with Interpol Wiesbaden, for the localization, capture and extradition of citizens declared internationally wanted, the citizen has been extradited from Germany to Albania:
VK alias VK, 42 years old.
The First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Tirana, with the decision dated 23.11.2022, has assigned this citizen the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offenses "Premeditated murder" and "Unauthorized production and possession of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition", the police announced.
At least four people are suspected of participating in the October 30, 2022, assassination attempt. The two assassins entered the residence after breaking through the outer perimeter and shot Briken Sanaj at close range, from a spot under an olive tree.
