The Special Court has found lawyer Besart Logu guilty of the criminal offense of "Exercising unlawful influence over persons exercising public functions", according to Article 245/1/4 of the Criminal Code.
The trial was conducted in a summary trial and the panel of judges, consisting of Atalanta Zeqiraj, Flojera Davidhi and Erjon Bani, decided to sentence Logu to 2 years in prison. The sentence was later reduced by 1/3, according to the summary trial procedure, ending in 1 year and 4 months. The court ordered the suspension of the imprisonment, placing Logu on a probationary period of 2 years and 8 months.
In addition to the criminal restriction, Logu will also face professional consequences; the court revoked his right to practice law for 9 months. In addition, all procedural costs of the investigation and trial will be covered by the convicted person.
The decision was based on evidence collected by SPAK, including audio and video materials, environmental wiretaps, and recorded communications between Logu and undercover justice agents on December 9 and 13, 2024. This evidence proved decisive in proving the unlawful influence exerted by the defendant over public officials.
