Cause of the tragedy, the roller coaster that did not work properly
The tragedy may have been caused by a malfunction of the heating boiler.
According to initial investigations, the fire was caused by carbon monoxide fumes released by a heating boiler. Technical reports from the fire department will further clarify the cause of the fire. The hypothesis, still under investigation by investigators, of a malfunction in the system seems to be gaining ground.
The alarm raised by the father's brother

The alarm was raised by the father's brother, who had not received any response to his calls. Therefore, he decided to go and check why he had not received any response. When he reached the house, he tried to enter, realizing the tragedy that had occurred. After entering the house while the smoke of the deadly substance was still present, he was also intoxicated and had to seek medical help.
He was taken to the Cisanello Hospital in Pisa with a red code, where his condition is stable and he should recover. Thus, the emergency services and the carabinieri were notified, as well as the firefighters, who unfortunately had to confirm the death of the entire family.
According to local media , the Kola family was a well-known family, perfectly integrated and loved by everyone.
Two carabinieri were also poisoned.
Two of the carabinieri officers who went in to rescue the four people inside also suffered poisoning. They were also hospitalized for checks, but their injuries are not serious. The 118 operations center coordinated the rescue efforts. The same was true for two neighbors of the victims, who had also done everything to save the Kola family. The Lucca ambulance, the Lucca Red Cross ambulances, two from the Porcari Green Cross and one from the Arciconfraternita di Santa Gemma responded to the scene. The Pegaso was also requested, but as soon as the death of the four family members was confirmed, the mission was canceled.
Firefighters rushed in, desperately trying to save the four, but there was nothing they could do. They were already dead.
Carbon monoxide fumes are deadly, causing symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, nausea and confusion, which increase with the severity of exposure, leading to loss of consciousness and, ultimately, death, especially if you are asleep, making it difficult to recognize the danger.
Mayor Leonardo Fornaciari expressed his condolences: "A great pain, there are no words to express what we are feeling right now." Investigations will continue in the coming days. Meanwhile, an entire city is in mourning.
