SPAK is requesting 1.2 and 1.8 years in prison for the two defendants.
The Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) has announced the indictment of two defendants accused of the criminal offense of "active corruption in elections", committed in collaboration, in the Kukës district.
For citizen Kalosh Peposhi , who is in custody, the prosecution has requested a sentence of 1 year and 2 months in prison, with the benefit of a summary trial.
While for Gazmend Peposhi , who is being tried in absentia and has held the position of former head of the administrative unit, a sentence of 1 year and 8 months in prison has been requested, also with the application of a summary trial.
According to SPAK, the two Peposhi cousins are suspected of promising and distributing money in exchange for votes for a Social Democratic Party (PSD) candidate in Kukës.
Defense lawyers have presented their arguments before the court, while the Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SCOC) is expected to announce the verdict.
