Agents of the Spanish National Police, in a joint operation with units of the German BKA and ZKA and the French National Police, have dismantled an international criminal network of drug traffickers based in Marbella in Málaga, Spain, whose leaders had armed companions for protection.
A total of 14 people were arrested. The organization, which operated from a restaurant in Puerto Banús, in the municipality of Malaga, is linked to the shipment of more than 1 ton of cannabis to Germany and the seizure of 382,000 euros in France.
In this operation, 14 people were arrested and 28 simultaneous checks were carried out in Spain (10) and Germany (18) where, among other things, more than 180 thousand euros in cash, 7 firearms and 30 kilograms of marijuana were seized. The investigation began in December 2022 after the arrest of three people, of Colombian and Albanian origin, in the French city of Dax. The arrested, who are currently in a temporary prison in the French state, had 382,000 euros in cash hidden in a vehicle seized. The investigations carried out by the French authorities revealed that the seized money was intended for the leaders of a criminal organization, allegedly dedicated to international drug trafficking, based in Marbella.
Likewise, links to Germany, the country of destination of the drugs transported by road from Spain, were confirmed. This motivated the start of a joint research team between the three countries, Spain, France and Germany. The leaders of the network, two Germans of Iranian and Moroccan origin, ran a restaurant located in Puerto Banus, where they held meetings with other drug traffickers.
In addition, they had a permanent escort of armed Colombian nationals whose mission was, ostensibly, to provide them with security against the risk of other criminal organizations attacking or trying to steal from them. the commodity. After several police actions, last summer there were several seizures of narcotics that, as the result of the investigations, had left the province of Cádiz. Specifically, in June 2023, 140 kilograms of hashish were seized, divided into three confiscated shipments, sent from a company in Jerez de la Frontera to another company in Germany.
On the other hand, 450 kilograms of hashish were seized , hidden between boxes of lemons, in a truck seized in Germany and coming from Murcia. Finally, another 400 kilograms of the same narcotic substance were found in the warehouse where the truck was to unload the goods. As a result of the investigations, the agents discovered the organization's base of operations, which turned out to be the Puerto Banús restaurant run by its leaders, and a yacht anchored in Marbella, where the investigators held discreet meetings with other drug traffickers.
Likewise, the investigation has also revealed the organization's links to prominent members of the Hell's Angels MC motorcycle gang, German and Spanish leaders, as well as nationals of Albanian and Bulgarian origin, all with histories of drug trafficking. The modus operandi used by the drug trafficking organization in Germany consisted of hiding the narcotics in "caves" in both vehicles and trucks. Moreover, to avoid detection, the investigators changed the location of the "day care centers" (places where they kept the drugs) between Marbella (Málaga), Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cádiz) and Utrera (Seville).
The operation was carried out simultaneously in Spain and Germany. As a result, 8 people have been arrested in Spain, two of them in Marbella, five in Estepona and one in the province of Seville and 2 in Germany, to which we must add the 3 arrested in France in December 2022 and 1 fourth person in Germany in October 2023.
On the other hand, 28 checks were carried out, 10 in Spain and 18 in Germany, where the national police traveled to Wiesbaden and German investigators to Malaga to take part in them. As a result of these, over 180 thousand euros in cash, 7 firearms, ammunition of different calibers and 30 kilograms of marijuana, among others, were seized.
