One of the people wanted for the assassination attempt that killed Gentjana and Kreshnik Mujeci in Lezha, Besnik Kolndreu, has reacted publicly, stating that he is currently in Montenegro and that he is ready to surrender.
In an interview with "News 24", he emphasizes that he is only waiting for confirmation from his lawyer to appear before the Albanian authorities.
Besnik Kolndreu stated that he had communicated directly with the head of the Lezha Police, while stating that he had promised to appear in person, "dead or alive", to clarify everything and clear his name.
"I have spoken to the chief of the Lezha Police directly and I have told him that I will come to you on foot, dead or alive, and everything will be clarified to clear my name. I am simply waiting for an OK from my lawyer to tell me to come. So you will see me surrendering and no one will say we caught the criminal here and there because I am not a criminal," he said.
Kolndreu denies knowing the other wanted persons, claiming that he has not had contact with them for a long time, and publicly challenges any claims to the contrary.
"And I want to add that I don't know the two people who are wanted at all because they didn't grow up there, plus I've been in exile my whole life. Let a single Albanian come forward and say that they saw me with them, even for a second. Let them search for phone calls, social networks if I had a single communication with them," he declared.
He admits that he only knows one of them, but emphasizes that there has been no recent contact.
"I know the older person because he grew up there, but let someone come forward and say that I have met him for at least the last two years. The last time was two years ago when I paid him to bring me peat with his truck for my greenhouse," Kolndreu added.
Next, the 40-year-old tries to reinforce his alibi by emphasizing his lack of presence in the area.
"The center of Torovica is 5-6 km away from where the cafes are, let someone tell me if they've seen me there in the last 10-12 months drinking a coffee... because I don't have time for coffee," he said.
Kolndreu also emphasized that he has no knowledge of the perpetrators of the crime and that the investigation of the incident is up to the justice system.
"I don't know who killed, did they kill or didn't kill. This is not my job but the state's... I'm simply talking about the people who accuse me of being an accomplice without knowing whether they are guilty or not. The state, the court, the prosecution know this," he concluded.
