In the Port of Durrës, a case of an attempt to bring valuables into Albania, without declaring them, was detected.
From the controls on the second line, in the bus that had the first and second drivers, a quantity of gold and silver jewelry was found, which are suspected to have benefited from criminal activity.
Following the checks, the investigation has started for the two bus drivers Ermal Nebiaj, 34 years old and Fation Ruko, 37 years old, for the criminal offenses "Failure to declare money and valuables at the border" and "Empropriation of money or goods derived from criminal offense or criminal activity".
The police have also identified the recipient of these valuables, MT, 59 years old, who was declared wanted.
Also, efforts are being made to capture the citizen who is suspected of cutting the jewels in Albania. As material evidence, jewelry, 2 cell phones and 2 passports were seized.

Based on the risk analysis and as a result of the use of modern control methods, which are being carried out in implementation of the joint operational plan of the Department for Border and Migration and the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Tirana, for the prevention and attack of border crimes, the services of the Local Directorate for Border and Migration Durrës struck at the entrance of the Republic of Albania, a case of an attempt to introduce into Albania, without declaring, valuables.
From the controls on the second line, a quantity of gold and silver jewelry, which is suspected to have benefited from criminal activity, was found in the bus that had the first and second drivers, namely citizens EN, 34 years old and FR, 37 years old. Following the procedural actions for this case, the proceeding was started in a free state for both of these citizens, for the criminal offenses "Failure to declare cash and valuables at the border" and "Empropriation of money or goods derived from a criminal offense or criminal activity".
Subsequently, as a result of the investigations, a citizen of MT, 59 years old, who was suspected of receiving the jewels in Albania, was identified and declared wanted. Efforts are being made to locate and capture him. The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Durrës, for further actions," the police announced.
