The police have officially confirmed that 43-year-old Gerald Shehu, suspected of murdering the receptionist in Dhërmi, has used the border crossing point of Qafe Bota to cross to Greece.
After that, it is thought that he went to Igoumenica and then by ferry to Corfu. He would then use the island's airport to travel to England. It was at the airport that he was detained by the Greek police for the purpose of extradition.
Meanwhile, the suspicion of the Albanian police is that Gerald Shehu was helped by someone. This is due to the fact that he left his vehicle in a private parking lot in Saranda and then traveled for about 45 minutes to Qafë Bota.
The police are investigating who helped Shehu by hiding the vehicle and transporting it to the border crossing point.
